ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES
ELIZABETH RAWSON Elizabeth Rawson is a new comer to the Placer County, California area. She has actively participated as an artist and educator in the communities where she resided. Elizabeth initially taught high school art. Later, as Artist in Residence, she presented teachers’ inservice seminars and developed art programs for grades one through eight. Consultant for the Arts Council of Kern County, she designed instructional workshops in watercolors and drawing for children and adults. During that time she and her husband Gerry were raised by their six children. Elizabeth’s painting “Perceptions Edge”, of Bar Harbor, Maine, was accepted in the top 200 out of 2000 entries in the 1992 Art in the Parks competition. It was purchased by the National Park Foundation in Washington, D.C. Elizabeth’s watercolors have been at the Art Towers Gallery in Cambria, Who’s Who Art Gallery in Carmel and Cunningham Art Gallery in Bakersfield, among others. Awards include 2 nd at the San Fernando Arts’ Guild, merit awards in the Los Angeles Regional Juried Show, and an Affair in the Gardens Juried show in Beverly Hills. She has presented workshops at many guilds, including the Morro Bay Artist’s Guild. She has freelance private and corporate commissions. Her watercolor studies include watercolor workshops with Robert E Wood, Nita Engles and Morton Solberg. Known as “Watercolors by Elizabeth, ” she combines sketches and photographs from nature outings. She said she learned from Wood that “Watercolors are more adjustable than people think!” She also uses a variety of tools and techniques to bring the painting to the desired effect.
